Training in Litchfield County, CT

Central Park is our home. We ride its sheltered roads shielded from bustle of the city around us, but we know the protection only lasts a moment.  Every now and then we get the chance to ride in a place where the peace doesn't end when you turn out of the park.  The roads are empty. There are no sirens or honking horns reminding us of our true surroundings. There are no bike paths. There is just the road.

Litchfield County Roads

Following the Green and Gold Crit in New London, CT several of the team's riders headed west towards Litchfield County, picking up a few friends from the Asphalt Green Cycling Team along the way. After an evening of Lasagna, Vino and tape-delayed Olympics (which also happened to include Vino's victory), Sunday morning greeted everyone with a consistant and unyielding rain.

After attempting and failing to wait out the rain over coffee and more Olympics (this time live), all six riders headed out for what would be a three hour rain ride. After multiple ascents of Sharon Mountain and some pace-lining along the Housatonic River, the team headed towards home just in time for the clouds to fade and the sun to emerge.

Following a thorough bike cleaning (you can't leave a bike like the Litespeed L1R - or the Litespeed C1R for that matter - dirty) the caravan headed South, towards New York City, though not before a customary stop at the Red Rooster for burgers, waffle fries, shakes and of course chili dogs.

We also took the opportunity to do a quick photo shoot with Team Sixcycle-RK&O's Roger Parmelee's Litespeed L1R post cleaning. While most of Team Sixcycle-RK&O rides the 2012 Litespeed C1R, Roger is on the 2012 Litespeed L1R. We'll be posting the pictures of his ride along with a full review of the Litespeed L1R shortly - stay tuned.
