To Be Determined: An Introduction

2017 will mark our sixth year in the New York City peloton. After two years as Team Health Warrior and three as Team Sixcycle before that, 2017 will also mark our first year stepping away from the title sponsorship model and striking it out on our own with a new name and purpose: To Be Determined.

To Be Determined started as a placeholder. But as we pondered the ethos of our team, the core of which has spent the past half decade riding and racing together, we realized To Be Determined articulates two big reasons why we ride bikes:

Determination - Be it on the final lap of a hot midsummer crit, on those brutally cold and gray January training rides, or while just trying to get to a campsite before the sun sets on a bikepacking expedition, To Be Determined is about the experience and expression of determination on two wheels.

Uncertainty - Heart rate monitors, power meters, TSS and Strava segments have become core to cycling in the modern day. We think it's time to reintroduce the unknown back into the sport. To return to cycling as an adventure, where the best rides are full of surprise. To Be Determined embodies the idea that when you swing your leg over the bike, where you go or how hard you pedal should be just that — To Be Determined.

New Name, new home

And so, To Be Determined was born, and with it our new online home at ToBeDetermined.cc where we will build on the past five years of storytelling, spanning hundreds of posts and thousands of images from Belgium to Italy, California to Vermont and of course close to home in New York City. We're also going to be sharing content from some of our friends, bringing a new perspective to our online journal.
