A Joyous Day in NYC

A Joyous Day in NYC

With temperatures forecasted to be nearly 70 degrees in November, the weekend was shaping up to be pretty great. We had a small group keen to get a couple of hours in over the GWB and we met at the leisurely time of 9am at Grant’s Tomb. I was lucky enough to be doing this ride on Matt’s beautiful Vamoots which he has very generously let me borrow for a few weeks. Let me just say, wow titanium is great and I wish I never tried it because I think my pockets will be getting lighter in the future.

Anyway, as were rolling over the GWB we all noticed that river road was still looking in peak foliage condition so the decision was made to hit river road. What a great decision it was. Rolling along in perfect weather, surrounded by the beautiful orange and yellows with my friends was a great way to kick off the weekend.

We stopped for a quick coffee at market before heading back along 9W. When we crossed back over into New York, Saturday turned truly joyous. Riding along Riverside drive we got tooted, not usually a joyful experience, but it kept happening. It was at that point we realised the election had been called and the people of New York were ready to celebrate. I felt quite lucky to be rolling back through the city as the news had broke; seeing the joy and relief on everyone’s face topped off a great ride and made for the start of a really great weekend.
