A Whole Lotta Pain on Whole Lotta Lava - ZRL Season 2, Week 6

As our first proper Zwift racing Series, ZRL Season 2 has been quite the experience for the squad. There have been highs (a win and a plethora of top 10 finishes) and lows (Cullen’s Zwift glitching mid-TTT and riding off into a field).

Week 6 was no different as we had our fair share of technical issues - JB dropped internet within the first two minutes into the race, while Yosef had the same thing happen just a few minutes from the finish line. But it was another great week of extremely hard pedaling and hanging out on Discord.

Though he was supposed to be taking some rest after a hard weekend of training, Yosef joined the ZRL squad for the first time and has this week’s race report:

It started out tame enough. Halfway up the first climb Scott put in an effort to shrink things out as was the plan but he was brought back. I was told to counterattack which I did and burnt my first match and was promptly brought back.

The group stayed together until the second time up the climb where I was told to go to the front and drop the watts burning my second match but it was brought back together before the peak. it then split on the downhill with Scott in the lead group and me in the second group.

No idea what happened in the front after that. My group stayed together until 1.5K till the end where my Wi-Fi dropped out burning my last match so I came in the end of that group at 21st.

The Final Results

In the finale Scott was in the lead group and just barely missed out on the podium with a monster fourth place finish. Yosef recovered from his dropped internet to come home next in 21st place. The full results were as follows:

• Scott - 4th

• Yosef - 21st

• Clark - 32nd

• Johnny - 55th

• Sasha - 60th

With one rider short of a full squad this was sufficient for (yet another) 6th place for the race:
