Back on the Road for the First Time in Months

As we have so often written in recent months, 2020 has not been the year that any of us expected. Outside of one or two early Spring events the race season effectively never happened. And even the team rides that typically characterize our Weekend Rolls have been non-existent since February, replaced by solo cruises and the anxiety of wondering when things will get back to ‘normal.’

As we have increasingly come to terms with the answer being ‘not anytime soon’ life has carried on. Which unfortunately has included coming to terms with Erwin, one of TBD’s stalwarts in recent years, leaving NYC for greener pastures in Amsterdam. Unfortunately we couldn’t give him a proper full fledged team ride as a send off (who even knows when we’ll be able to do a ride like that again) but we did have a very small crew of folks don masks to one last spin down 9W.

In fact, it was my first time on a bike in NYC since February. And while it felt anything but normal, it was a welcome relief from being pent up indoors and on Zwift for much of the past four months.
