TBD Fantasy Tour de France with Athletic Brewing and Castelli Cycling

We’ve been playing the Tour de France fantasy league for a few years now. It’s great – everyone knows that sports are even MORE fun when you have something at stake on a fantasy league with your friends. This year we’ve decided to open our league up to anyone that wants to join, and offer prizes to whoever takes the win at the end of Le Tour. The more the merrier, join our league and let’s see who’s the best amateur Directeur Sportif.

The Prize: Winner takes All

The winner of our league gets 4 six packs of Athletic Brewing beers of their choosing, and one Castelli Cycling jersey of their choosing.

No prize for second place – we like winners here. We already have people signed up from a variety of racing teams in NYC and some international and out of state friends of ours. Expect competition to be heated! Clever / funny team names are also encouraged.

Big thanks to our sponsors Castelli Cycling and Athletic Brewing for helping us celebrate Le Tour.

Not sure you’ll win but still want to try Athletic? use code TBD25 for 25% off your first Athletic Brewing order.

Some tips

Take my advice with a grain of salt, cause I don’t exactly want anyone to win but me. But some important things to point out are:

  • Stages matter more for points than GC. You get points for holding GC on your roster, but that’s not going to win you the league.

  • Make sure you have a full roster. If you don’t, you wont get points. This is especially important as the tour continues and some riders drop out. (I hear some have an eye on the Olympics.)

  • Use your transfers wisely. You get at 8, so plan ahead.

  • Your road captain gets carried over from stage to stage, so you won’t lose everything if you forget it one day. However, back to back wins by the same person is uncommon. So keep an eye on your road captain.

If you win the stage, don’t forget to fill in your speech! The winner of each stage gets to write a note in the results for that day. It’s a great place to banter and boast about your win. I know I will use it, if I am lucky enough to win a stage.
