The Definitive Guide to WTFNB Race Teams in NYC
If you are interested in finding out who the movers and shakers are in the NYC racing community, this is the article for you. One of the great parts of cycling is that it’s a team sport. We train together, race together, support and push each other to reach our goals. If you are interested in racing in NYC or already have caught the racing bug, I highly recommend reaching out and joining a team. Some of the most fun I’ve had on my bike is racing with my teammates. To demystify the process, we’ve put together a summary listing out some of the WTFNB race teams with a little info blurb on each.
While I’ve titled this as the ‘Definitive Guide,’ there are definitely a few NYC teams missing from this article to find out about (e.g., NYCC, ROR, R*). There are also always new teams forming, so while this captures the current race scene, a year from now this article may look different. Hope it helps you get started!

TBD is an NYC-based racing team that participates in events across all racing disciplines. We have over 30 riders on our team from Cat 1-4 and include both a men’s and women’s racing squad. We compete in local NYC races (such as CRCA and L&C/Verge) as well as in some of the biggest races in the U.S. (Chicago Grit, Unbound). We’re a tight-knit group that likes to train together, carpool to big races together, and argue about the best local coffee shop. Our team supports the tobedetermined.cc cycling blog which includes articles on gear, race reports, training, and beyond.

We focus on the local park races but occasionally branch out to other races if someone expresses interest!

Actively Recruiting (as of August 2025): Yes.
How to reach out:
Read the first two grid posts on our IG @angels.nyc.cc to get a thorough understanding for what we're about + which personalities may fit in with us;
Send a DM to the @angels.nyc.cc IG account with your: name; email address; Strava link; a brief (or not brief!) intro about what you love about bikes + why you're interested in being on our team;
If everything looks good, we'll send you an unapologetically long email with more detail + some questions to get to know you better;
Send us answers to those questions, please! If you don't provide the info, we will not follow-up;
If everything looks good, we'll ask you to join us for some classic laps + coffee, see how it feels in person, then take it from there the old fashioned way.
You can also look at the specific Recruiting IG grid post which has a big A icon; it will say all of the above.
There's not a tightly specific, preconceived athletic metric we need you to hit, nor an amount of rides we'd require before making a final decision. That said, we need to be able to look at the types of rides/races you're currently enjoying, know your goals + feel there's already a visible commitment to a specific type of lifestyle (already motivated, self-led + in process) before joining. We also want to be confident that it's a great decision personality-wise for the entire team, as the founding teammates are intentionally creating the space together, and that's a very special thing.
What park do you train in: Central Park and Prospect Park
Open Rides: We just launched publicly mid-July 2025, so we don't have any Team Events booked yet... However! Some of us co-lead Dawn Patrol every Thursday morning, 6:45am in Prospect Park. Check out IG @pp.dawn.patrol for more info + feel free to join Les, Isabella + Christina there. As well, two of us are Rapha ride leaders, and you can ride with Elsa @healmyplanet every Tuesday night at 7pm in Central Park. When we get some Team Rides on the schedule, we'll post about it obnoxiously on our IG.
Sports need more women taking up more space, believing in themselves + encouraging others. We're a new cycling team supporting women's development in sports, recruiting athletes across all disciplines at multiple levels. The Angels are an expressive, kind group of bike-obsessed friends who love to cross-train + snack constantly. Our pride comes from knowing there are endless ways to define our strengths, and we hold the same, equal value for racing structured, scored events as we do for long-distance, non-competitive + self-supported adventure rides. We enthusiastically contribute back into our communities, and being involved in community service is a requirement for all teammates. We see activism, feminism + advocacy as imperative to the inclusion + grown of women + people of color in sports. The Angels seek having the most possible fun while accomplishing something difficult; we love to grab a podium, but we're also just here for the really good workout. Aside from chasing our own PR's, our goals center strongly upon creating a supportive, low-pressure environment that allows other athletes to develop their growth in ways that are personally healthy, sustainable + fulfilling for their personal goals.Women are having a unique experience in sports; we're worthy of not only participating, but leading, because we deserve to enjoy the benefits of our own matriarchies. It is simply impossible to have too many of us at a start line.

We develop riders of all experience levels and categories, and there are many team resources to help with whatever goal you may have. We focus mostly on local races (particularly CP/PP) but with such a large team (women and men), there’s a good chance you will find a DJR at a race further away. We are fairly independent when it comes to training, but finding someone to ride with is an easy task. Our vibe is focused (on growth) and serious (about racing), while maintaining friendliness and approachability.
Kruis
Disciplines: All of them
CRCA Sub-Team: Yes-ish. Part of our team is a CRCA sub-team & races the club races.
Actively Recruiting (as of August 2025): Yes.
How to reach out: IG (@kruiscx), the contact form on our website (https://www.kruiscx.com/), or directly to one of the WTF team leads (hollykrelle@gmail.com)
What park do you train in: Mostly Prospect Park, with some Central Park.
Open Rides: You’re welcome to join our Friday coffee laps in prospect park, 7.10am - just drop us an email first and we’ll keep an eye out for you.
Kruis is silly, inclusive and supportive. We race all disciplines, at almost all standards, and are looking for teammates who want to get into (or keep) racing - but can balance success and not taking themselves too seriously. When not-racing you’ll find us on weekend rides, bike packing, renting deeply weird Airbnbs, & throwing our annual prom (theme: chaotic formal). If we sound like a good fit we’d love to hear from you.
W.0 Racing
Disciplines: Our focus is road, with some track and gravel mixed in.
CRCA Sub-Team: Yes.
Actively Recruiting (as of August 2025): Not at the moment.
How to reach out: @W.0_Racing or find us on the road
What park do you train in: Prospect Park and Central Park.
We’re a category 1-4 road racing team under the Century Road Club Association with a focus on teamwork and racing actively. Find us at the local park series, crits and road races on the East Coast, and stage races and Masters Nationals around the country. We love a good result, but we’re just as invested in growing the sport and making it more inclusive.
