Winter Escapes Gallery: A Week in the Mojave Desert

Shane and Lucia are in the middle of a little winter desert escape to Las Vegas and St. George, Utah.

It’s been a great trip, full of inexplicably needing to shed all layers despite what the weather app says the temperature is, and challenging-but-never-impossible trails that always have something new and fun to throw our way. We even got a overnight storm in Vegas, creating a morning of unexpectedly tacky hero dirt.

A full post is coming soon, but until then, enjoy this short photo essay on riding in a world with full sunshine, few trees, and monumental rock formations.

Just slightly west of Las Vegas is serene desert full of joshua trees and wild burros (!).

St. George, Utah has larger boulders and less loose gravel than Vegas, and there’s a different heart-stopping view every quarter mile or so.
