2026 Bicycle Film Festival
Bicycle Film Festival has always been am amazing event celebrating the stories of folks who ride, love, and depend on bicycles. The festival introduces viewers to all kinds of people from all over the world and what the bicycle means to them. The hardest thing for me is choosing which programs to attend - each day is packed with a slate of films that keep you on the edge of your seat with action filled sequences or challenge you on how you think about culture or social norms.
This year, there’s a program focusing on bicycle racing and more specifically, the WTF (women trans femme) community. Program 7: Cycle Sport - Obsession: The Beryl Burton Story on September 27th at 2:00pm, features three films showcasing racing and competition on the bicycle, followed by a Q&A session with folks connected to the films:
Dawn Patrol explores how cycling fosters friendship, confidence, and inclusivity for women and non-binary riders.
Family and friends of Cedrine Kerbaol cheer her on at the Tour de France Femmes.
Undefeated for 25 years, Leeds-born legendary cyclist Beryl Burton won seven World Championships, beat men’s records and transformed women’s sport - all while working on a Yorkshire rhubarb farm. Through unseen archives, letters and intimate interviews, the film explores the glory of her achievements and the cost of her obsession, particularly on her relationship with her daughter Denise.

The Bicycle Film Festival (BFF) will celebrate its 26th year in New York from September 24 to 27, 2026, at the Ukrainian National Home. This year's edition presents nine curated film programs featuring 45 short and feature length films from more than 15 countries, spanning documentaries, narratives, and animation, with award winning directors and emerging talents sharing equal billing.
Since its founding in 2001 by Brendt Barbur, who started BFF after being hit by a bus while cycling in New York City, the festival has grown from a personal journey into a global celebration of cycling through film, art, and music. BFF has since reached more than one million people in over 110 cities worldwide, including Paris, Tokyo, Mexico City, Cape Town, and Istanbul, and has been hosted at iconic venues such as the Sydney Opera House and the Barbican in London. BFF is proud to bring this year's celebration back home to New York. Bicycle parking will be provided.
