Weekend Roll: Philadelphia Cycling Classic 2026
The Classic is Back! I had been 10 years since the last Philadelphia Cycling Classic and anticipation was building up to the August 30 race day. Philadelphia delivered with a spectacular and very spectator-friendly race along the Schuykill River.
The course is a 14.4 mile loop through Fairmount Park, out to Manayunk and up the Wall, back to Lemon Hill, past the museums, and on to the start/finish on the Parkway. Spectators could easily get to all points of the race by following the bike paths, free shuttle, or camp out with the crowds cheering from the hillside at Lemon Hill. Thirty-six teams entered, from local elite to UCI WorldTour including Canyon/SRAM and Lotto-Intermarché. The women’s race, won by Chiara Consonni, started the day with 123 riders lining up for 100km of thrilling racing (89 men started for 200km won by Tim Torn Teutenberg).
