Mengoni Grand Prix: Embrace the Chaos

Mengoni Grand Prix: Embrace the Chaos

Racing in the middle of Manhattan has always been prone to chaos. Sometimes it is a box truck that emerges in the middle of a field sprint. Other times it is confusion on race lap counts that leads to rider protests around upgrade points. For the 2023 edition of the Mengoni Grand Prix it was multiple fields finishes blending together as New Rider Clinics merged with racing fields and the Elite Men’s finish overlapped with the field sprint for 3rd in the Elite Women’s field.

Despite the vibe falling at the high-end of the chaos-meter, it was still a terrific morning in Central Park. The racing was fast, the weather was beautiful, and it was great seeing the CRCA community in action. We had big squads out in the Elite Men’s field (Ben, Alvaro, James and myself), Aimee in the Ellite Women’s field and Alex and Tom in the Men’s 3/4. Aimee was the top finisher for the squad with 6th place. Full race results are here.
