TBD Race Calendar: March 2020

TBD Race Calendar: March 2020

It is hard to believe, but bike racing is officially returning to New York City in just a few days. As usual the early season calendar is absolutely jammed packed with series taking place in Prospect Park, on Randall’s Island, in Central Park and just across the Hudson in Branch Brook Park in New Jersey. As always, we’ll keep the TBD Race Calendar updated all year long and in the meantime a quick summary of the races scheduled over the next few weeks:

  • The opening weekend for racing sees the rare opportunity to race bikes in February with both Branchbrook and Randall’s Island scheduled for Saturday February 29th (racing bikes in February oh my!) - TBD will have a few folks taking advantage of some of the later scheduled starts to sleep in and then race at Randall’s. Then Sunday March 1st sees the start of the CRCA Club Series in Central Park for those willing to brave a cold and early morning and the first of the Frozen Four races in Plainville, CT for those looking for something a bit north of Manhattan.

  • Week two is much of the same for New York City racers with Branchbrook and Randall’s Island on Saturday, followed by the same CRCA + Frozen Four schedule for Sunday March 8th.

  • Week three gets exciting with the start of bike racing in Prospect Park with the Lucarelli & Castaldi Cup Series opener on Saturday March 14th. TBD will definitely be in attendance for this one, with the following day another action packed one that features Branchbrook, Frozen Four and Randall’s Island.

  • March 21st and 22nd is one of the busiest weekends of the Spring with at least four events on both Saturday and Sunday. Saturday features the continuation of both the Branchbrook and CRCA Series, plus the start of the Philly Phlyer and for the MTB-inclined the start of the H2H race series. Sunday gets even more exciting with the start of the Castelli NYC Cycling Series in Prospect Park, where some TBDers will be racing, as well as the Frozen Apple Gravel event just North of the City. All in all this should be a great weekend of bikes - knock on wood for decent weather.

  • Finally, the month closes out with some great events on Saturday March 28th including the first David Brinkerhoff Memorial Series race as well as the 18th annual Chris Hinds Sunshine criterium. Meanwhile Sunday sees the second race in the Lucarelli & Castaldi Cup in Prospect Park.

As always if we are missing any races from the calendar just drop us a note using the contact form on the TBD Race Calendar page. We want to make sure the calendar is as comprehensive as possible.
